Scheduled upcoming events are listed below in chronological order.  These include classes, summer camps, fundraising and special events, holiday kids classes and more!

  • The Arts Barn Fall Arts Festival

    September 24 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

    Our annual Fall festival is free and open to the public and will be held at The Arts Barn grounds just a mile and a half from the Orwigsburg Post Office, from Noon – 5 PM September 24, rain or shine.

    Festival admission and parking are free. The Festival will feature live music, food/wine, fine art & craft vendors, chainsaw carving, petting zoo, cowboy poetry, kids crafts, Chippy Chipmunk book signing, demonstrating artists and more! No pets please.


  • Fall Classes at The Arts Barn

  • Large Stained Glass Panel (5 class series)

    October 3 @ 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm

    October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; 5:30PM – 9:30PM

    Artist: Deborah Powell Kramer
    Minimum Age: 15

    Cost: $250

    Panel design and size will be chosen by the student at the first class, bring a design idea. Completed panels will have approximately 40 – 50 pieces and measure up to 12×14. Students learn to cut glass, foil, solder, apply an edge, patina, and wax their completed panel.


  • Intro To Painting (4 part series for kids 6 – 10)

    October 4 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

    Taught by artist Karen Stafford

    Class 1 Oct 4 – 6-8pm: Painting Journal
    Students will create and design their own painting journal to record ideas and inspiration.

    Class 2 Oct 5 – 6-8pm: Painting Tools and Techniques
    Students will experiment with the tools used in painting and record their brushstrokes and painting in their journals.

    Class 3 Oct 11 – 6-8pm: Playing with Color
    Students will learn about primary and secondary color mixing, layering, and the effects of adding black or white to colors. Students will begin choosing the content for their final painting.

    Class 4 Oct 12 – 6-8pm: First Works
    Students will complete at least one painting using the skills they learned and practiced during class. Students will take home a beautifully matted or framed masterpiece.

  • Silk Scarf -Transfer Design

    October 7 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

    Artist: Wilfriede Axsmith
    Minimum Age: 16
    Cost: $50

    Easy and fun class! This technique involves transferring designs from silk ties onto silk scarves. With surprise color transfers, the student will never know the exact outcome of their design on the scarf. Please bring a sharp pair of scissors for cutting ties. Finished silk scarf will be 14 x 72 inches.


  • Wicker Melon Basket – 6 inch

    CONSIDER MAKING BOTH a 6 and 10 inch basket – ONLY $50 (October 19 and 26)

    Cost: $25

    Lear how to make a 6 inch wicker melon basket. No experience necessary. This class fills weaving experience prerequisite for the 10 inch wicker basket class.


  • Painted Wine Glass/Wine Basket

    Cost: $50

    Relax and enjoy painting 1 – 2 wine glasses to accompany your own handmade woven single bottle wine basket! Learn painting on glass techniques, twining, over-under, start & stop weaving, rimming and lashing. Taste some local wine along with a light lunch. A perfect way to spend a day with friends or to make some new ones!


  • Cold Process Soap Making

    October 22 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

    Artist: Lori Jo Whitehaus
    Minimum Age: 12

    Cost: $55

    Participants gain hands-on, make-and-take experience with cold-process soap making. Class includes Lori Jo’s instruction booklet, a portion of the soap made by the class and two bars from her inventory. Also, class will makea set of all natural lip balms to take home and share. Optional take home kits to create 10 – 12 more bars will be available for $25.


  • Fused Glass Open Studio

    October 25 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

    Artist: Amy Weidensaul
    Minimum Age: 12

    Cost: $55

    Get creative making fused glass masterpieces! No experience required. Amy will offer step-by-step instruction. Cost includes enough material to make two small dishes, bowls or tiles (or four pendants). Choose from various shapes, sizes and colors.

  • Fall Crafting for Kids and Youth

    October 28 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

    Please join us at the Arts Barn for a fun time of Fall crafting. We will be making tin can pumpkins and learning about layering paper to create a beautiful Fall scene for each participant to take home.

    This event is FREE. A suggested $5 donation to cover supplies cost is appreciated.

    Fall Art! Ages 2 – 16. We’ll make tin can pumpkins and paper layering scenes


  • Painting – The Basics (6 part series)

    November 4 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

    Dates: November 4, 11, and 18; December 2, 9, and 16
    Artist: Karen Stafford
    Minimum Age: 18
    Cost: $85

    Learn the basics of painting. You will be taught how to use brushes, mix colors, color intensity and other techniques from a skilled artist. Brushes, paper and acrylic paint will be supplied. If you prefer to paint in watercolor, feel free to bring your own paints. No experience necessary.


  • Holiday Ornaments Party for Kids & Families

    November 5 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

    Come out and join us at the Arts Barn For holiday music, treats, crafts and fun. Make beautiful hand crafted ornaments to decorate for the Winter season. All materials will be availabe for you to create with. All Ages are welcome! This event is FREE. A suggested $5 donation to cover cost of supplies is greatly appreciated.

  • Stained Glass Candle Holder (2 class series)

    Cost: $55

    Excellent opportunity to try stained glass! You will be making a 4″ high, 4 sided votive candle holder, with 20 pieces of glass, in your choice of colors. You will be instructed through the process, including grinding edges, foiling, soldering and polishing.

  • Wire Christmas Tree

    Cost: $55

    Just in time for the holidays! Hand shape your own wire Evergreen/Christmas tree from twisted wire affixed to a granite base! Lighted, topped with a wire star or a simple, elegant evergreen tree, you choose the wire color that best suits your taste. Other tree options available are natural, windswept, weeping will and Forest (Forest combines 3 evergreen trees on one base). Fairy LED lights are an optional touch. Eye protection is a must (glasses are fine). PLEASE REGISTER SPECIFICALLY FOR “FOREST Wire Tree Class”, if choosing this option, as our instructor will make you a special granite base in advance.
