Spring 2015 Classes at The Arts Barn

We have a VERY exciting and varied array of classes for you to choose from. We also have a very wide array of teachers and instructors and are pleased to be able to offer such accomplished professionals to you.

All classes take place at The Arts Barn. All art will be completed to take home at each class, all supplies and tools will be provided and no experience is necessary unless otherwise stated.

There are always snacks and beverages available and our classes fill quickly so please send in your registration, or register online, as soon as you can so you won’t be disappointed. If at all possible, we will add classes as needed.

Please come appropriately dressed (including proper foot ware) for the type of class you are attending. If in doubt, just call and we will happily advise you.

Pisanki is the ancient Slavic art of egg decorating. Artist, Peter Cieslukowski, shares his expertise and discusses the history of Polish culture.
 
 
 


Seeds Of Creativity

Seeds Of Creativity Lecture

Tuesdays, May 5th, 12th and 19th, 6:00 – 8:30PM

Instructor: Barry Middleton
Cost: FREE! (But registration is required)
Ages 16 & up

What is creativity? Why do some of us have it and others don’t? Does everyone have it? How much do you have? In what areas? Artist, Barry Middleton’s three-part lecture answers all of these questions while discussing different kinds of creativity, leading group exercises, and engaging in discussions. 
 


Windchimes

Make Your Own Windchime

Ages 10 & up

You will be making a windchime using items you find around your home or things you have found in a flea market. If it’s metal- it can be a chime! Just bring it along with SILVER-PLATED flatware and artist, Kathy Reinert, will bring the beads!


Fused Glass Dish Workshop

Thursday, May 21st, 6:00PM – 9:00PM

Instructor: Amy Weidensaul
Cost: $50
Ages 15 & up

In this class, through demonstrations and hands on learning, you will discover the basics of fused glass. Each participant will cut and assemble various colors of glass and arrange them so that they can be fused and slumped into two small dishes. Amy’s classes are very popular so sign up while you can!


Zentangle

Zentangle 101 Workshop

Friday, May 22nd, 6:00PM – 9:00PM, and/or Friday, June 19th, 6:00PM – 9:00PM

Instructor: Sheila Grube
Cost: $30 (optional $10 take-home kit)
Ages 10 & up

You will learn the history and terminology of this art form, as well as be guided step by step in order to create two of your own Zentangle masterpieces using the traditional tile, black ink, and shading. Start here and know that the possibilities are endless! No experience required!


Doorknob Basket

Artist, Jean Foutz, will be teaching you how to hand weave a wonderful doorknob basket that will complete the look of any decor and that can hold keys, bills and even your cell phone!


Fused Glass Windchime Class

Fused Glass Windchime

Saturdays, June 6th and 13th, 12:00PM – 2:30PM

Instructor: Jemima Snyder
Cost: $50
Ages 13 & up

This will be a two part class. The first class will consist of learning the basics of glass cutting and layering the class for the chime. Disable decals will be available to embellish the glass. The second class will consist of assembling the fused glass pieces to the driftwood with coordinating beads.


Tap Dance Class

Ages 11 & up

In this class, Mr. Robert Lippi, will be teaching the basics of tap dancing. Shoes WILL be provided, but you will need to give your shoe size when you sign up!

Ages 10 & up

Both beginner and advanced students welcome! Workshop topics are flexible and will include essential techniques for creating your own manga and graphic novels as well as any aspects you’d like to learn more about. We can cover panels, character design, drawing hair, facial expressions, action poses, dialogue writing, and much, much more!

Ages: 15 & up

In this class, through demonstration and hands on learning, you will discover the basics of fused glass. Coffee Painting with Dave Hughes

Saturday, June 13th, 6:30PM – 8:30PM

Instructor: David Hughes
Cost: $15
Ages 10 & up.

Come learn to paint in a whole new and unusual way. Dave has perfected his own ‘paints’ using coffee in varying concentrations, and paints on acid free water color paper. Come create with coffee!

Come paint a beautiful picture in an up-beat and fun environment. We will supply the wine and beverages and snacks. You will go home with a beautiful masterpiece. No experience or talent necessary!
